The Sri Kasi Nattukkottai Nagara Satram, Varanasi is a monument of devotion built by the Nattukottai Chettiars. The Satram is housed in a large imposing building that is a landmark in the area. Established in 1863, it has a rich and eventful history and has been a boon to millions of pilgrims who visited the holy city of Varanasi.
This Satram is dedicated to the service of the famous Lord Viswanath Temple. Varanasi is also a pilgrimage centre for not just Hindus but Buddhists, Jains and Sikhs as well. The Satram caters to pilgrims who come to Varanasi from across the country and overseas seeking blessings from the gods.
The Nattukottai Chettiars have been generous in their contribution to the building and maintenance of this Satram besides performing lavish pujas to Lord Visweshwara. The Satram is a self-contained space with facilities like halls, kitchens, quadrangles, storage rooms and even a flower garden. The vessels that are used to prepare the holy 'Bhoj' , food for the Lord is taken in a procession from the Satram.
